Description:
This workshop will educate parents and others in the community about what sensory issues are, what sensory processing disorder and a sensory diet are, and about practical ways to help kids who have this hidden ability that affect 5-10 percent of children and teens. Most children with sensory processing disorder (SPD) have another condition such as ADHD, autism, or a learning disability, but some do not. This will be an hour long presentation, followed by a 30 minute Q&A session. Nancy Peske, coauthor of Raising a Sensory Smart Child: The Definitive Handbook for Helping Your Child with Sensory Processing Issues (Penguin/Random House).
